Herpes is one of the most common infections in the world and is spread by close physical contact, sex and kissing. Most people have been infected before they are 5 years old. If you have an outbreak of herpes you must pay attention and do not kiss, have sex or have close physical contact and you must absolutely not come into close contact with newborns. Newborns are particularly vulnerable and if a newborn become infected with herpes it can cause blindness and in severe cases cause death.                        Do not touch the wound, you can infect other parts of your body and the wound can become infected with bacteria. Wash your hands often and treat the outbreak either with over the counter products or medical treatments prescribed by your doctor – and have patience, it will disappear in 7-10 days.
